Hello to all our Sakana Stack backers, we hope you're having a great start to 2025! With mass production now underway, we're happy to confirm that the pledge manager from Backerkit will go live over the next few days. Expect an email from Backerkit with details of how to log in, and you will be able to manage your pledge from there. We are still on track to hit our timelines so please choose the Local Pickup option when selecting the shipping destination if you would like to collect at UK Games Expo 2025.
For those who have not used a pledge manager before, this is where we transfer your pledge from Kickstarter so we can finalise shipping details and make sure we have your correct address. We also collect the shipping cost and any taxes if you are EU-based. You can add an additional copy of Sakana Stack if you like with no additional shipping cost, and you can also add something new...!

We are excited to announce that we are releasing Flower Cards and want to allow our Kickstarter backers to add to your existing Sakana Stack pledge!
Here are some additional details about Flower Cards, which will be available in the Backerkit pledge manager as an add-on to your pledge.

‘Hanafuda’ means ‘Flower Cards’ and originated in 18th-century Japan. Much like Western playing cards, a wide variety of traditional card games can be played with Flower Cards. The most popular games are Koi-Koi and Hachi-Hachi.
Our Flower Cards are inspired by the fauna and flora of the British Isles and follow the same format as ‘Hanafuda,’ so you can play these popular games yourself.
Flower Cards consists of 12x suits of 4 cards, giving a core deck of 48 cards. There is also an additional blank card.
Each suit represents a month of the year, and each month has a flower representing that month. We have used flowers representative of those you would see in each month of the year.

There are four main types of cards which are:

As Flower Cards can play several traditional games, rather than including a lengthy rulebook in the box we will instead provide an online rulebook.
When the game is delivered we shall have an online breakdown of the cards along with rules for the most popular games Koi-Koi and Hachi-Hachi. We will also include rules for a variation of Rummy which can be played with Flower Cards.
The rules will be accessible by QR code and website details printed on the box. If you decide to print any of the rules, you can download them in full colour and low-res.

Joss has hand-drawn all of the artwork to create 48 cards with unique designs. This project has been thoroughly researched, and it was important to pay homage to the style of traditional ‘Hanafuda’ and European card history to give the designs their own identity and style. The colour palette is that of the British countryside, with some greens, browns and purples, but also other pops of colour.

When managing your pledge in Backerkit, Flower Cards is an option in the Add-on section when you complete your pledge for Sakana Stack. Flower Cards will then be delivered together with Sakana Stack when we fulfil pledges.
You will be able to add Flower Cards to your Sakana Stack pledge for just £10.00 per copy with no additional postage cost! Up to two copies can be added for each backer.
We wouldn’t have been able to prepare Flower Cards for publication so quickly without you, Sakana Stack backers. Thank you for all your support!
Joss & Mike
